Torn or frayed cloth is applied or stitched and transformed into another form than the original.
In the field of handicrafts in daily life, it is natural for things to change in appearance.
Adding to them is not only a way to keep them in use for a long time, but also a way to enjoy their changing appearance.
This work uses a variety of plant dyes to create patterns using patchwork, darning, stitching, and other handicraft techniques.
I would like to make this work enjoyable to add a new pattern to the already existing pattern when it is torn in the course of use.
野良着半纏「あたたかな森」
柿渋、どんぐり、梅、草木、玉ねぎ、金属媒染、リネン
友禅、筒描き染、パッチワーク、ダーニング、刺し子など
「繕う」という漢字は、糸へんに善と書きます。破れたり擦れた布は、当て布をしたり縫われたりして、元の形とは別の形に姿を変えていきます。
生活の中の手芸という分野において、ものの姿が変わっていくことは自然なことで、そこに手を加えていくことが、ものを長く使うという実用のためでもありながら、変化してく姿を楽しむことでもあったと思います。
この作品は、様々な植物染料を使い、パッチワークやダーニング、刺し子などの手芸技法で模様を作っています。
使ううちに、破れたりしたら、すでにある模様に、新たな模様を自分で付け足していくことを楽しめる作品にしたいと考えています。
